I agree with your views on vaccines. There are some we cannot live without and some we probably can. I have caught all the usual childhood diseases (measles,rubella, mumps, chicken pox) and I am fine. I think its foolish to leave children fully unvaccinated
as things like polio are just a plane ride away. Unless a child is allergic to the vaccine components or is immuno compromised. We have a fully vaccinated child. We spread out our vaccines much to the unhappiness of our ped dr. I just do not believe we need
to give our kids ALL those shots at one time. Thank you for bringing this to light.

My 3-year-old son has autism. He was diagnosed a little over a year ago. He only got one vaccine in the hospital after he was born....Hep B...since we hadnt decided to wait to vaccinate yet. He started showing signs of autism as early as 5-6 months...we
just didnt know the signs to watch for, so we were unaware that his behavior wasnt just cute quirkiness, but an early clue instead. We are not sure what caused his autism, and may never know. There are two types of cases of autism, those children who fail
to meet milestones, and those who meet the milestones early on, and then regress or lose many of those capabilities. I am not an expert, but it seems to make sense to me that a child can be predisposed to autism, just as someone can be predisposed to cancer
or heart disease. That doesnt mean you will definately get it....but if they are exposed to a trigger or enough triggers, it can cause the disorder/disease to develop. And yes, I agree with you that the way we eat can be such a big factor, as can the pollutants
in our environment. In my son's case, I believe he was born autistic. We are examining the various vaccines now, to determine which ones we believe are very important to his longterm health. But I cant say it doesnt worry us to vaccinate him, even though he
already has autism. His immune system is very different than most other people's. So we are heading into an area of the unkown outcome, and for any parent, that's not a place we like to be when we are talking about our kids.

This is an important issue for many of us with children who have food sensitivities. I must say, since schools are willingly offering foods that are gluten-free, to meet the needs of children with celiac disease, and have nut-free and peanut-free offerings,
for children with allergies, a parent should not be required to get the GFCF diet written into the IEP. That said, it is nice to know there are avenues to pursue for those of us who would like our children to be able to participate in the school lunch program.
