Necessities for an Allergic Child

My severely allergic child Bradley (now 10 years old) cannot leave the house without his Medical Bag. I’m not a doctor, but both my child and I have gone into anaphylaxis. I can tell you first hand what it is like…it’s like being stuck under water and you can’t gasp for air. The biggest mistake is a parent being afraid to give epinephrine when needed. Please do NOT make that mistake, because it could be life threatening. Here are the necessities included in Bradley’s bag:

1) Two Epi-pens (or Avui-Q)

2) A Peak Flow meter (This is a MUST-HAVE)! You can request it from your doctor or purchase it online. My favorite is the PocketPeak Flowmeter. Honestly, it takes the guessing out. If your child is below normal, you know when to give them epinephrine.

3) Small pack of Wet wipes (unscented).

4) Asthma inhaler.

5) A few Band-aids.
